Instructor: Cathy Cohen

Instructor Bio: Having practiced myofascial therapies since the eighties and having been a massage teacher for over two decades, Cathy knows how frustrated therapists become helping clients with pain complaints. In fact, the evolution of Beyond Trigger Points began in 1999 after a phone call from one such frustrated individual. He was developing a massage department for a local hospital and couldn’t find knowledgeable trigger point therapists. As a Biology major from George Mason University and with 1000 hours from the Shaw Myotherapy Institute for Trigger Point Therapy, she was a shoo-in to teach their staff. After many workshops and curriculum tweaking, Beyond Trigger Points became a Florida and Nationally Certified (NCBTMB) program. Today, Beyond Trigger Points is a company massage therapists trust for their continuing education needs.

What to Bring: Bring sheets and massage oil or cocoa butter. Men are requested to bring shorts or a bathing suit. Women should bring shorts and halter tops or a two piece bathing suit. Be prepared to expose the body region being studied to enhance the overall learning experience. Identification and treatment of myofascial trigger points requires short fingernails. Lab manuals will be provided. If you completed the online lessons, bring your study guides and textbooks. If you’d like to complete the online lessons before the class, though not necessary, go to
